Born and raised in the Midwest, Melissa
still lives in Central Illinois. A wife and
mother of two (Anna, 14 and Austin, 11),
Melissa spends her days as a full-time
homemaker and still finds time to home
school her children, even though her
'family' has grown over the years. Although
she has a varied experience with many birds
and parrots, she now focuses on Pure Bred
Eclectus and Congo, Timneh African Grey
Parrots. And of course there is Jackson, our
pet Doberman.
Melissa is a very traditional old-fashioned
person. Strong and true to her beliefs, she
personifies the values of her favorite show,
'Little House On The Prairie'. Melissa
believes in the sanctity of marriage and the
strength of the family. Watching her hug her
daughter or listening to her talk to her
plants or birds shows the amount of true
caring she is capable of.
Melissa is pro-life. Actually she carries
this concept beyond its normal connotations.
Obviously, she is against abortion, but
Melissa believes in life in all forms and
'the rights of the living', as well as, 'the
rights to life'. (The other day when we were
going shopping, it was a very windy day. A
group of birds were migrating home but due
to the wind, they had to lay-over in the
'Best Buys' parking lot. Seeing their
plight, Melissa made sure the birds were fed
while they were at their 'rest stop'.).
Melissa is her windchimes of the front
porch...her home-made birdfeeders in the
backyard. Melissa is the soft voice to her
plants and animal...the soft caress to her
children. The world may not be a better
place because of Melissa Lee, but without
her it would miss a piece of goodness it
will not see again.
Written in a completely unbiased manner by
her husband.
